[expired] Editor and Co-Editors of Psychology of Music

Applications are invited for appointment as the Editor/Co-Editors of Psychology of Music, 2022–2027

Psychology of Music is a peer-reviewed journal that is published in print six times a year, and receives a large number of submissions across a broad range of disciplines related to the scientific understanding of psychological aspects of music. This includes research on listening, performing, creating, memorising, analysing, describing, learning, and teaching, as well as applied social, developmental, attitudinal and therapeutic studies. The primary role of Editor(s) is to decide, with the support of anonymous peer review, which submissions merit publication in the Journal. The Editor(s) should be an excellent and diplomatic communicator, self-motivated and highly organised, and with exceptional attention to detail. An excellent command of written and spoken English is essential. It is expected that the Editor(s) should have expertise across a broad range of appropriate disciplines, as well as some experience of academic publishing. The Editor(s) is/are supported by an editorial team including a paid editorial assistant, Assistant and Associate Editors and an international Editorial Board, as well as by the Society for Education, Music and Psychology Research (SEMPRE) and SAGE, the academic commercial publishers of the Journal. We welcome applications from individuals or dual/shared applications. SEMPRE’s intention is that Journal Editorial teams should reflect the diversity of [society] membership and include a variety of voices and perspectives, particularly those who are frequently underrepresented in academic publishing.

Interested applicants should send a full CV, a list of two academic or other relevant referees, plus a 500 word statement of their vision for the future development of the Journal to Professor Graham Welch, Chair of SEMPRE (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), by 30 June 2022. Enquiries are welcome to the current Editor, Professor Andrea Creech (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
