Overview

The SysMus25 Conference Report captures the highlights, insights and energy of the 18th International Conference of Students of Systematic Musicology, hosted by the RITMO Centre at the University of Oslo. Over three days, more than 140 participants from around the world came together—both in person and online—for keynote lectures, presentations, posters, workshops and interactive sessions exploring topics ranging from music cognition and performance to music technology, well-being and cross-cultural perspectives.

This year’s programme included 29 oral presentations, 19 posters and four workshops, alongside a lively social programme designed to bring people together and create space for informal conversations. With contributions from emerging researchers and established academics alike, SysMus25 continued the conference’s long-standing commitment to accessibility, interdisciplinarity and student-led collaboration.
