24th GTA International Scientific Conference

Overview

The 24th GTA International Scientific Conference, themed Gestalt – Imagery – Action, will take place from 16–19 September 2026 in Berlin, Germany. Organised by the Society for Gestalt Theory and its Applications (GTA), the conference marks over a century of Gestalt-theoretical research originating in Berlin, while engaging critically with contemporary developments across psychology, philosophy, the arts, and cognitive science.

The conference theme addresses structured wholes in the phenomenally given (Gestalt), multi-modal experiences without a direct sensory input (Imagery) and forms of action that may arise from experienced Gestalts and mental imagery (Action). Of particular interest are the mediations that occur between these dimensions.

The conference program will comprise keynote lectures, panel discussions, workshops, poster sessions, visits to historic sound archives, an easy listening session and a concert, as well as a guided walk to the landmark sites of historic Gestalt Research in Berlin Mitte.

The conference welcomes contributions from established scholars, early-career researchers, and students. Conference languages are English and German.
