Host a Sempre conference

Conference schedule and organisation

Normally, two one-day conferences are held each year in Autumn (September/October) and Spring (March/April) with a two-day international conference taking place every two years in the Spring slot. These events are arranged by local organisers from the hosting institution in discussion with the Sempre Conference Secretaries.

Sempre conference support

Sempre is able to provide:

• Limited funding for administrative support
• Publicity for the event on the Sempre website and social media platforms
• Sempre Conference Awards, which support travel costs for student and unwaged participants (usually from relatively local areas)
• Financial support for technical support that enables online/hybrid access to conferences
• In lower-HDI countries, financial support for technical equipment that enables online/hybrid access to conferences, and funding to cover a fee and local travel costs (if applicable) for a keynote speaker

Our environmental commitment

Sempre is committed to minimising the environmental impact of its conferences while maintaining accessibility and inclusivity. We acknowledge the importance of face-to-face interaction in advancing research but recognise the need for sustainable practices in light of the climate crisis. Conference organisers are encouraged to adopt measures such as providing online participation options, promoting local travel whenever possible, and ensuring equal access for all delegates.
