What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer when you visit websites. They are widely used across the Internet in order to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as provide performance information to the owner of the site.
The Sempre website uses cookies to collect standard Internet log information, visitor behaviour patterns and ensure that any user services you request function correctly (for example, to temporarily track your selections on the BPS Shop website so that the checkout service work correctly, or request to login to the site and access your user account).
How to control and delete cookies
The Society will not use cookies to collect personally identifiable information about you. However, if you wish to restrict or block the cookies which are set by our websites, or indeed any other website, you can do this through your browser settings. The Help function within your browser should tell you how.
Alternatively, you may wish to visit www.allaboutcookies.org which contains comprehensive information on how to do this on a wide variety of browsers. You will also find details on how to delete cookies from your computer as well as more general information about cookies. For information on how to do this on the browser of your mobile phone you will need to refer to your handset manual.
Please be aware that restricting cookies may impact on the functionality of our (and other) websites and you may not be able to login if you have set up a website account.
We use a number of other third party Internet services companies who also set cookies in order to provide additional functionality and performance monitoring. If you would like more information about the cookies used by these suppliers, as well as information on how to opt-out, please see the relevant notes in the cookie lists below.
Cookie Categories
Cookies have been categorise by the International Chamber of Commerce UK as set out below. We may use cookies in none, any or all of these categories from time to time, but where we do, we will inform you by updating the cookie tables on this webpage.
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around the website and use its features, such as accessing secure areas of the website. Without these cookies, services you have asked for or selected cannot be provided. Performance cookies – These cookies collect information about how visitors use a website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages. These cookies do not collect information that identifies a visitor. All the information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. This information is only used to improve content and how a website works.
Functionality cookies
These cookies allow the website to remember choices you make (such as your user name, language or region you are in) and provide enhanced, more personalized features. For instance, they may be used to provide services you have asked for such as watching a video or commenting on a news item or blog. The information these cookies collect may be anonymised and they cannot track your browsing activity on other websites.
Targeting or advertising cookies
These cookies are used to deliver adverts more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement as well as help to measure the effectiveness of an advertising campaign. They are usually placed by advertising networks with the website operator’s permission. Quite often targeting and advertising cookies will be linked to site functionality provided by other organisations. Sempre never uses targeting or advertising cookies in any of its websites.
