Music & Science experienced a successful 2024 with 57 published articles, and 113 submissions. Several special collections were launched or completed, ranging across research on timbre, live performance and audience research, and international perspectives on musical care.

Music & Science takes as its point of departure the idea that the sciences can help us to make sense of music and its significance in our lives. The journal aims to communicate important new insights in music research from the full spectrum of relevant scientific and scholarly perspectives to the widest possible audiences. We aim to publish research from any discipline or perspective that can illuminate, or that can be illuminated by, scientific approaches to understanding music.
