Psychology of Music

Psychology of Music is an open-access and peer-reviewed scholarly journal established in 1973. As one of the three academic journals of Sempre, and the longest established, Psychology of Music shares the Society’s aim of providing an international forum for researchers working in the fields of psychology of music and music education. The scope of the journal embraces work directed at increasing the scientific understanding of any psychological aspect of music. This includes studies on listening, performing, creating, memorising, analysing, describing, learning, and teaching, as well as applied social, developmental, attitudinal and therapeutic studies.

Submissions are open year-round, with all issues available to browse online.

Music & Science

Music & Science is a peer-reviewed open-access journal, dedicated to exploring the diverse and complex relationship between science and music. Covering a broad range of topics, from cognition and neuroscience to ethnomusicology and music therapy, the journal aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for researchers to share insights across scientific and scholarly perspectives. It strives to bridge the gap between music scholars and scientists, encouraging dialogue and collaboration across various disciplines.

Submission

The journal accepts a wide variety of submissions related to the scientific study of music. Sempre members benefit from a 50% discount on the article processing charge.

Research Studies in Music Education

This internationally peer-reviewed journal supports high-quality research in music and music education, encouraging diverse research methodologies applied to music education theory and practice. It includes a dedicated Perspectives in Music Education Research section for debates and discussions on current issues in the profession.

Submission

There are no fees payable to submit or publish in this journal, and authors can submit supplementary materials like audio/video files and datasets.
