2024 was a successful year for Research Studies in Music Education, with manuscript submissions equaling those of the previous year. Across three issues of Volume 46 we published one Perspectives article and 29 original research articles.

The work of Research Studies in Music Education is guided by four foundational commitments:

1. We welcome submissions from scholars at different career stages, from diverse backgrounds and experiences, and representing varied disciplinary, methodological, and theoretical perspectives. The journal particularly encourages submissions from underrepresented scholars, music education communities, and contexts. 
2. We value methodological and theoretical depth, rigour, and innovation, offering equal platform to contributions that apply well established and explore emerging approaches to inquiry.
3. We foster a culture of respect, openness, and collaboration within our editorial team and among reviewers, encouraging opportunities for scholarly discussion and debate that uphold an ethos of generosity and good will.
4. We support public scholarship in music education, celebrating opportunities to bridge the gap between scholarly expertise and community engagement.

We are grateful to our many peer reviewers who help maintain the rigorous academic standards upheld by the journal. Acknowledging these contributions, the Editorial Team are currently updating the Editorial Board for 2025 to represent scholars across countries, career stages, and methodological and disciplinary expertise.
