Further to our June announcement, we are delighted to report that two more distinguished senior academics have accepted SEMPRE Lifetime Achievement Awards (July 2019) in recognition of their contributions to the advancement of knowledge in applied music psychology. These two colleagues are Liora Bresler (USA) and Cliff Madsen (USA). Liora Bresler is Professor Emerita at the College of Education, University of Illinois, Champaign, as well as in the Illinois College of Fine and Applied Art; the Hedda Anderson Emerita Chair in Lund University, Sweden; and since 2007, a Professor II at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, Norway. She has been a pioneering figure in the application of qualitative social science research methodologies to music education. In contrast, Cliff Madsen, the Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professor in the Center for Music Research at The Florida State University and Coordinator of Music Education/ Music Therapy/ Contemporary Media, has been a leading researcher in applied quantitative research methods in both music education and music therapy. Both have been (and are) outstanding academics and national/international leaders in their respective fields related to the application of the psychology of music to music education.
