In the past year, SEMPRE has continued its charitable awards programme. Current and recent projects have involved initiatives in cultural education in India and Nepal, special needs projects in Pakistan and Haiti, music for young children in Afghanistan, and several projects on music for inclusion and literacy in Kenya, as well as music education in Uganda and family support through music in the Gambia. This is in addition to the regular and systematic financial support for individual students and unwaged researchers to attend psychology of music and music education-related conferences in the UK, mainland Europe and around the world, working in partnership with local conference organisers.

SEMPRE has also continued to expand its portfolio of publications, with further volumes in the Routledge SEMPRE series (making twenty-eight books in total so far) and the formal launch of its new, online journal Music and Science in partnership with SAGE, with thirty-eight articles published in the first eleven months of 2018. This brings the total number of academic research journals to three, including Psychology of Music and Research Studies in Music Education. Overall, we have continued to fulfill our distinctive international mission to support research and scholarship, and its applied practice, in the fields of music psychology and music education.
