Research Studies in Music Education is a peer-reviewed journal that is published in print three times a year. It receives a large number of submissions across a broad range of disciplines relevant to music education research. Original Research and Perspectives articles employing a range of research methodologies are published in order to interrogate and develop diverse topics in music education theory and practice.
The Editors-in-Chief, in conjunction with the Society for Education, Music and Psychology Research (SEMPRE) and SAGE Publications, are responsible for setting the strategy and direction of the Journal. They oversee the peer review of manuscripts, supported by an editorial team which includes an Assistant Editor, an international Editorial Board, and SEMPRE and SAGE. The Co-Editor-in-Chief role involves working alongside one other Editor-in-Chief to manage the editorial team and facilitate the continuing development of the Journal as a leading outlet for quality research and perspectives in music education.
Applicants should be excellent and diplomatic communicators, self-motivated and highly organised, and possess exceptional attention to detail. An outstanding command of written and spoken English is essential. It is expected that applicants should have expertise across a broad range of appropriate music education disciplines, as well as experience of academic publishing. SEMPRE’s intention is that our Journal Editorial teams should reflect the diversity of SEMPRE’s membership and include a variety of voices and perspectives, particularly those who are frequently underrepresented in academic publishing.
Interested applicants should send a full CV, a list of two academic or other relevant referees, plus a 500-word statement of their vision for the future development of the Journal and their suitability as a Co-Editor-in-Chief to Professor Graham Welch, Chair of SEMPRE (This email address is being protected from spambots.
